Fellow Lions and LEOs of District 33S,
There's an old proverb, "Be careful what you ask for, you might get it." As this Lions year cranks into high gear, I keep asking myself, "What was I thinking!?!" The year has gotten off to a whirlwind start: seeing Joyce become the DG in Australia (what a country!); hosting nearly 20 students from around the world in MD33's first-ever International Youth Camp (what an experience!); and becoming fully engulfed in the job of Cabinet Secretary (what a workload!).
DG Joyce has put together a "crack team" (also known as her Cabinet) to help the district reach new heights and achieve the goals she has set. I am honored to be a member of the team. DG Joyce's vision includes growing our district and making Lions much more visible to the general public. We all know what a great service organization Lions is; this year more non-Lions will know it too.
In addition to the "tried and true" events and service projects the district has performed in the past, this year you will see some things you haven't seen before. There will be multiple opportunities for clubs to perform a service project together as a Zone. Also, keep an eye out for "Paws for a Cause."
Obviously, none of this would be possible without all of your hard work and dedication. Whether your club has 20 members, or 200, every one of you can make a difference. Everyone can be a "Beacon of Hope."
I truly believe that we are going to have a memorable year. I know that each of you will join me in helping the district remain FOCUSed on our future: Furthering Our Cause, United in Service.
I look forward to working with each and every one of you!
Sincerely,
Martin Middleton
Cabinet Secretary
